Nice Old School logo to start.
HOLY SHIT! Undertaker gongs? Yep, we are opening tonight with the RETURN of The Undertaker!!! He raises his arms on the stage and the Mania 29 logo appears on the screen. Fade to black... was that it?
We then cut to an Old School Raw intro, including an updated Raw Old School intro.
Cole & Lawler dressed Old School as well with an Old School announce table. They mention Taker's appearance and wonder what it was signalling. Anyway, CM Punk's music hits and he and Paul Heyman make their way to the ring. He says that he should be main eventing Wrestlemania defending 'his' WWE Championship. He blames the WWE Universe for him being screwed over last week and says that there's no purpose for him to be at Mania. But what the world just saw gives him a purpose. He says he will defeat the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 29, and that his WWE Title streak has more significance than Taker's. 20-1 is coming, he'll beat the streak once and for all.
Cue Randy Orton's music and comes down the ramp, saying that Punk shouldn't be that confident. He says that he had his shot at Taker 8 years ago, came close, but missed out. He asks the crowd that whether he or Punk should take on Undertaker. Big Show's music then hits and he makes his way down the ramp saying that he has a much better chance of taking out Undertaker than either two of the guys. Sheamus's music then hits and he says that he's never had a chance to take on Taker so he feels he's the most suitable candidate.
Vickie Guerrero then comes out and says that whoever beats Undertaker at Mania will truly cement their place as the greatest of all time. She then sets up a Fatal 4-Way match for later tonight, the winner will take on The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 29.
A point-counterpoint between Rock and Cena is up later as well as Triple H addressing the Brock Lesnar confrontation from last week. But Ryback is ready for a match backstage, that match is up next.
US Champion Antonio Cesaro is in the ring, it looks as if he'll be Ryback's opponent. Ryback then comes out to a good pop from the crowd, as ever.
Match 1 - Antonio Cesaro vs. Ryback
Good opening match. Ryback wins by countering the Neutralizer into Shellshock.
WINNER - Ryback
Cue Mark Henry's music! Ryback meets him on the ramp, but Henry just walks by glancing at Ryback... a possible Mania match there? Anyway he's out for a match, his opponent... Zack Ryder... JOBBER ALERT!!!
Match 2 - Mark Henry vs. Zack Ryder
As expected, it's a squash match, Hey winning with the World's Strongest Slam.
WINNER - Mark Henry
A reminder of the Fatal 4-Way up later, but up next it's Dolph Ziggler, backstage with AJ and Langston, set to take on The Miz after the break.
FAN-DAN-GO apparently premieres tonight... oh dear...
Miz and Dolph are already in the ring, and Miz introduces an Old School member in his corner, 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair! WOOO!!! etc.
Match 3 - Dolph Ziggler (w/AJ Lee and Big E. Langston) vs. The Miz (w/Ric Flair)
Great match. Miz gets the submission win with the Figure Four Leglock (a proper one this time)
WINNER - The Miz
They want people to Tout on Undertaker's appearance. But up next, it's Rock and Cena in a point-couterpoint debate.
Another advert for WWE's Wrestlemania Reading Challenge.
IF YA SMELLL!!!! Rock makes his way out to the ring... huge pop from the NY crowd. He does his usual intro for the fans. He says that he had this day in his calendar, 34 days until Wrestlemania 29. Cue John Cena's music and he makes his way to the ring. He apologises for interrupting but he's been waiting for nearly a year for this moment, with Rock being champion and how he hasn't failed. Last year, Cena said he needed to beat Rock at Wrestlemania 28, but failed. That had quite an effect on him over the last 12 months that he failed on his promise. But he doesn't blame Rock for that, as he made him stronger, by winning the Royal Rumble and defeating CM Punk finally, and he gets a second chance at rewriting history. He isn't going to throw this chance away.
Rock says that he's been waiting for this desire to come from Cena, because he knows how much the Mania match means to him. Rock, however, says that it matters even more to him and that Cena will get his ass kicked in 34 days. Cena then decides to quote Mike Tyson... 'In order to be the greatest who ever lived, you have to beat everyone who's living'... Cena says he's beaten everyone bar The Rock, and at Mania, the Rock time is up, Cena's time is now. Rock rebutts with a quote of his own says 'winning is about heart... you've got to have it in the right place...' Lance Armstrong said that and he's as full of crap as Cena is. Cena says he thinks he'll be champ at Mania 29. Rock says that he KNOWS that he can beat Cena and he'll do it again in 34 days. Rock then seemingly whispers his catchphase to close the segemnt. GREAT promo.
Triple H addresses the Lesnar situaition later. They now recap Undertaker's appearance from earlier.
Jack Swagger is out now with Zeb Coulter. His opponent will be... Hacksaw Jim Duggan!!! And he's accompanied by both Sgt. Slaughter and 'The American Dream' Dusty Rhodes!!!
Match 4 - Jack Swagger (w/Zeb Coulter) vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan (w/Sgt. Slaughter and Dusty Rhodes)
Before the match can even start, the Legends are attacked by Swagger, culminating in him putting the Patriot Lock/Act/whatever it's called on Duggan
Marine 3 promo now.
Team Hell No are backstage, making their way to the ring. They'll be taking on The Prime Time Players next.
Josh Matthews catching up with Swagger, asking why he attacked the Legends. He says that it's Jack Swagger's America and what did they do that was so special, but got cut off by De lRio attacking him from behind, followed by security having to pull the two guys apart.
Ted DiBiase is at ringside for this upcoming match, he's apparently managing the Prime Time Players cos they're worth 'millions of dollars'... ugh.
Match 5 - Team Hell No (Kane & Daniel Bryan) vs. The Prime Time Players (Darren Young & Titus O'Neil) (w/'Million Dollar Man' Ted DiBiase)
Quick little match. Kane wins with a chokeslam after Young jumps into it from the middle rope.
WINNERS - Team Hell No
Ted heads off with Team Hell No, it seems as if he was managing them all along.
Cut to backstage and it looks as if the Honky Tonk Man is appearing next.
It looks as if it's a 6-man tag as 3MB are in the ring and Brodus Clay & Tensai are heading to the ring. Then finally is Honky Tonk Man. Before the match starts, 3MB say they're the real rock stars and say Honky should return to Las Vegas with all the other Elvis impersonators.
Match 6 - 3MB (Drew McIntyre, Heath Slater & Jinder Mahal) vs. Brodus Clay, Tensai & The Honky Tonk Man (w/The Funkadactyls)
VERY quick match. Drew gets rolled up by Tensai in about 30 seconds or so.
Honky Tonk starts up his music with Tensai & Clay, only for Slater to stop it. Slater then gets hit with Honky's guitar and they all celebrate in the ring.
Up next, it's FAN-DAN-GOOOO taking on Kofi Kingston.
Wad e Barrett at the premiere of Dead Man Down promo now.
Kofi Kingston is in the ring already. Fandango's music hits and he's introduced. However, he says his name is being butchered again so he isn't wrestling. More wasted TV time.
Up next, it's Triple H to talk about his actions last week.
We now get a recap of last week's opening segment with Heyman, McMahon, Lesnar and Triple H.
Triple H comes out now to a big pop from the Albany crowd. He says the last time he was in the ring, he ws recovering from his defeat to Lesnar at Summerslam. He says that since then he's been training, preparing for the right moment. He was sat next to Vince in the hospital, and with that attack that Lesnar did on Vince, Triple H was ready to fight. He says that those 12 staples on the top of Lesnar's head are just the start of their battle. Triple H is calling Lesnar out for a match at Mania 29, to finish what they started. The GAME IS BACK!!! He asks if Lesnar's gonna show up and fight, or just sit there and bleed... WOW, great promo.
Later tonight will be the Fatal 4-Way match to go for Undertaker's Wrestlemania streak.
A recap of Smackdown, with Big Show hitting the WMD on Reigns.
The Shield have a video now, talking about their own undefeated streak, that they haven't lost since debuting, taking a swipe at Sheamus, Show & Orton.
Wade Barrett is in the ring now. He's set to be taking on Alberto Del Rio, introduced as ever by Ricardo Rodriguez. Throughout the match, Jack Swagger and Zeb Coulter were watching from the stage.
Match 7 - Wade Barrett vs. Alberto Del Rio (w/Ricardo Rodriguez)
Decent match here. Del Rio gets the win with the Cross Arm Breaker submission.
WINNER - Alberto Del Rio
This Friday on Smackdown, thanks to Twitter, it's Alberto Del Rio vs. Dolph Ziggler.
Still to come, the Fatal 4-Way for a shot at Undertaker's streak.
Zeb & Swagger video now, on political correctness.
NEW AGE OUTLAWS are coming out for a match!! They do their usual introduction and get ready for their match, their opponents, Epico & Primo, are already ringside.
Match 8 - The New Age Outlaws (Road Dogg & Billy Gunn) vs. Primo & Epico (w/Rosa Mendes)
Quick little match, Billy Gunn hits the Fameasser on Primo to get the win for his team. The Outlaws can still go.
WINNERS - The New Age Outlaws
Recap of the Rock-Cena promo from earlier. Stephanie McMahon has commented on Twitter on how Lesnar should accept HHH's challenge. Still to come, it's the Fatal 4-Way match.
Now, we're getting reactions from Tout on Undertaker.
A big cake is on the stage, saying happy 90th Birthday to Mae Young. Mean Gene then comes out and introduces Mae Young. The locker room who is on stage start to sing Happy Birthday to her, only for CM Punk's music to hit and he and Heyman walk through the crowd to the ring ready for the Fatal 4-way match, which is coming up next.
34 days to Wrestlemania.
Back from break and the rest of the guys in the Fatal 4-Way match are heading out, first, it's Big Show, followed by Randy Orton and finally Sheamus.
Match 9 - CM Punk (w/Paul Heyman) vs. Big Show vs. Randy Orton vs. Sheamus (The winner will face The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 29)
Good match here. Sheamus hits the Brogue Kick on Show, only for Orton to hit the RKO on Sheamus, which then led to CM Punk hit the GTS on Orton and get the win.
WINNER - CM Punk
Punk does his straight-edge pose, only for the gongs to strike and Undertaker reappears to have a staredown with Punk as Raw goes off the air.
A very interesting show this week, a very good build for 5 weeks time. I hope this continues on next week's show, which I'll be recapping as always. Until then though... ASHLEY OUT
