Report on Three Big Back-Up Plans Considered for WWE Hell In a Cell Before Monday's Decision

We noted before that several ideas were considered for Hell In a Cell before WWE officials decided on Ryback vs. CM Punk in the main event. reports that some of those ideas included:

* A three-way with John Cena vs. Ryback vs. Punk

* Even though he's supposed to go for the World Heavyweight Title, the idea of having Dolph Ziggler cash in on Cena after winning the title from Punk was brought up

* Vince McMahon vs. CM Punk in the Hell In a Cell main event was brought up but a source adds that it was shot down within 30 minutes

Is Punk Vs Rock Still Planned For The Rumble ?

Despite recent creative changes involving CM Punk and the WWE Title, as of this week Punk vs. The Rock for the WWE Title is still scheduled for January's Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Plans for The Rock's opponents can always change but it's a lock that he will main event both the Rumble and WrestleMania 29.

Ryback To Appear On Main Event Next Week

The feature match on next week's WWE Main Event on Ion will see Dolph Ziggler take on Ryback. The match was made after Ziggler defeated Zack Ryder on last night's episode in a quick match. Ziggler then issued an open challenge that was answered by Ryback to close the show. speculates that WWE may end up having Ryback vs. Ziggler be that show's quick match and tape another feature match as top matches on Main Event have been going around 15-20 minutes.

News On Paul Heyman's WWE Status

Regarding Paul Heyman's status with WWE, he is not working a full-time road schedule and there's no deal in place regarding a number of dates. He will be working some live events from here on out but not all of them.

The deal in place is that Heyman works all RAW TV shows plus likely all pay-per-views and other TV shows where CM Punk is appearing.

News On Decision To Put Ryback In Main Event

The decision to main event WWE Hell In a Cell with Ryback vs. CM Punk for the WWE Title was made on Monday afternoon after John Cena reportedly had another medical examination earlier in the day.

Cena's right arm had improved significantly over the past week but doctors could not assure WWE officials that Cena would be ready in time for Hell In a Cell. The feeling was they needed two weeks of strong promotion for the main event and because they couldn't get a solid answer on Cena's status, the decision was made to go with Ryback.

We noted before that two scripts for Monday's RAW were created - one building things up to end with John Cena getting the WWE Title shot against CM Punk and the other for Ryback getting the shot. Even after the decision was made to go with Ryback at Hell In a Cell, they still ended up re-writing his script for RAW that night.
