Update On Kurt Angle's DUI

Credit:http://www.nvdaily.com

FRONT ROYAL -- The Warren County Commonwealth's Attorney Office has reduced a driving under the influence charge against pro wrestling champion Kurt Angle to reckless driving.

Angle was absent from a hearing Tuesday in Warren General District Court during which Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Michael Fleming disclosed the amended charge. Reckless driving and driving under the influence as a first-time offense carry the same penalties -- a maximum of one year in jail and a $2,500 fine.

Fleming distributed a press release before the hearing. It read in part: "Based upon our review, the commonwealth feels that a reckless driving charge is strongly supported by the evidence and we have elected to prosecute that charge in lieu of the charge of driving while intoxicated."

Fleming refused to comment on the reasons for amending the charge. Angle's attorney, C. Todd Gilbert, also refused to comment. Judge W. Dale Houff scheduled a trial date for Nov. 8.

Angle, 42, of Corapolis, Pa., was arrested shortly after midnight on Sept. 4 on Interstate 66 near Linden. He had performed at the Shenandoah County Fair in Woodstock earlier in the evening.

A state trooper pulled Angle over after noticing the car he was driving was weaving back and forth over the center line, according to court records.

The arresting officer, C.R. Scally, wrote in his report that he detected "the strong odor of alcoholic beverage" and asked Angle how much he had drank. Angle replied three beers, according to Scally's report.

After Angle struggled with roadside tests, some involving his ability to recite the alphabet and count off numbers, Scally administered a preliminary breath test that registered a blood-alcohol level of 0.091 percent for the wrestler, court records say.

A second blood-alcohol test administered after 2 a.m. at the Front Royal police headquarters showed Angle's blood alcohol level at 0.06, below the legal limit of 0.08.
In comments days after the arrest, Gilbert said the result from the initial roadside test "is so inherently unreliable and the protocols for its use so flawed that these results are inadmissible as evidence under Virginia law."

Gilbert said the second test showing Angle below the legal blood-alcohol limit "is one that passes the rigorous scientific standards set forth by the Virginia Department of Forensic Science."

In a written statement issued two days after the arrest, Angle also denied he was driving while intoxicated.

"I was returning from an iMPACT Wrestling show in an unfamiliar place, late at night and trying to find the exit for my hotel," he said. "I did not believe my driving behavior was reckless or otherwise improper. Apparently law enforcement may have believed otherwise and pulled me over."

William Regal Comments On Raw

William Regal tweeted the following:

Some people have asked about the walkout on Raw.My personal reasons for my action was that I think HHH has enough on his plate being the COO.I know exactly what it takes to be in charge of Raw and it comes at a dear price(or it did with me).HHH is in charge of the WWE.He needs to concentrate on the company as a whole and put a suitable candidate in charge of the Raw brand.

Although we haven't had much to do with each other(apart from the odd scuffle)18 years ago myself and HHH where very close. We choose separate paths but my heart went out to him last night as for whatever has happened in our respective lives,we where once friends.

I don't agree with the superstars on any of there reasons for walking out on HHH.I just want him to share some of his burden. And I hope this message gets to him and he respects my view."

*Spoiler* Results For WWE Smackdown 10/7/11

Credit:Lordsofpain.net

*Smackdown opens with a backstage segment featuring Teddy Long and Zack Ryder discussing the Raw walk-out. Long says Raw's loss will be Smackdown's gain.

*In the ring are Christian, Wade Barrett, David Otunga, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, Cody Rhodes and Vickie Guerrero. They say that unless HHH steps down as COO, they will be boycotting live events as its not a safe working environment.

*WWE champ Alberto Del Rio comes out and says that the Smackdown stars won't return to Raw as long as HHH is COO. He's here to show Smackdown what Raw will be missing this Monday. Teddy Long comes out and announces Sheamus & Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes & Christian as tonight's main event, but says that since Del Rio wants to be in action tonight, he will face Sin Cara.

*WWE champion Alberto Del Rio defeated Sin Cara. After the match, Black Cara attacked Blue Cara.

*Backstage, Matt Striker interviewed WWE Tag Team champions Air Boom, asking them why they walked out on Raw. They said it was a culmination of many things but until HHH steps down, the fans won't see Air Boom anywhere but Smackdown.

CM Punk Coments On Raw Angle

CM Punk wrote the following on Twitter:

"I think a lot of people are missing the point. Fans and coworkers alike. Walking out is a p***y move. There's a huge difference in what I did. I want change, and I can't change s*** from my couch. I'm in the fox hole. I'm getting it done. I stayed to fight and I'm fighting for change. You can protest, violently or peacefully without actually showing up. Walking out isn't a solution at least not one that I've ever seen work. Hold 'em up. Make them change. Don't just walk out, or lay down. Fight. This goes for fans as well. Bored? Don't like @johncena? Want more @ZackRyder? Show up and be heard. Don't be a p***y and just tweet about it. Actions speaks louder than words. Except mine. My words are pretty awesome. No think about all that, and hopefully you'll get it. Too many tweets from me. Misspellings abound. You CAN'T protest without showing up. I am not Gandhi. I will kick your face. Don't like HHH as COO? Punch him in the face. I did. It's wrestling, not the NBA. Next high kick to Johnny "Funkhauser" Ace won't be an accident.....

Audio: Wrestling News Live 10/3/11 Archived

WNL returned to the airwaves on 10-3-11 on the SNS Radio Network with “The Outlaw of the IWC” The TreyDawg and ” Mr. Money on the Mic” JJ (ALL CAPS) $exay. The boys ran down the latest “News of the Week” sponsored by Wrestling-Online.com including former WNL Guest Devon “Hannibal” Nicholson filing a lawsiut in the Millions against the WWE. After the break the boys recapped the 10-4-11 of Monday Night RAW that saw the entire lockerroom minus the top stars walk out on Triple H. Trey & JJ gave their thoughts on the angle and a thumbs up to the WWE for drawing the wrestling fan in them back to the table. After the final break JJ opened the phone lines and took quite a few calls from the SNS/WNL Family on various topics. JJ opened the emails and then as promised the boys journeyed to that “Magical Land of Burkina Faso” for yet another Multi-Million dollar oppurtunity. Treys adopted African Child UmBooBoo makes a brief appearance as does poor Goobles the Turkey before JJ ended the show with some Red Hot Chili Peppers “Soul to Squeeze” on this latest episode of WNL.
